Who We Are

The Longwood Mentoring Program facilitates one-to-one mentoring relationships that will connect individuals across our unique campus environment (the Harvard Medical School, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and the Harvard School of Dental Medicine) to help individuals involved expand their networks outside their team, gain new knowledge and insights, work towards career advancement and enhance professional skills.

The program is entering its third year and with continued positive reviews from past participants. The program was designed with the collaboration of the Office of Employee Development and Wellness and the Black Staff Caucus. Together, these entities have helped sponsor, research, and develop this program to support our community.

All it takes is a time commitment of approximately two hours a month to start developing personal and professional relationships with others in the organization who can help you learn and grow.

Eligibility

The program is open for mentees at grade 52-57, and mentors at grade 58 and above, who are benefits-eligible employees on the Harvard Longwood Campus who have worked at Harvard for at least 1 year.  It is open to staff employees in all dynamic work schedules; hybrid, remote and on-campus employees.

The Longwood Campus Mentoring Program is open to all staff on the Longwood Campus. The Program is deeply committed to cultivating and preserving a culture of diversity, inclusion, and belonging on the Longwood Campus. We encourage staff of diverse backgrounds and experiences to apply.

- 2023 Mentee

The Mentoring Program was a great experience for me as a Mentor. Working with my Mentee was a learning experience for both of us. The match was perfect, and the program gave me the opportunity to learn and share my career experiences with my Mentee
- 2023 Mentor

The goal was a career change and with my mentor's help, I am now working in a new position that makes the most out of my skills, and I enjoy it very much.
- 2023 Mentee

My mentee and I appeared to be like-minded, which made for an instant personal connection. It was easy to create a foundation of trust and progress through the process with that established. In addition, she was motivated, focused, and organized. As a result, we were efficient with our time. Like many reported at the luncheon, I fully expect this relationship to continue well into the future.
